When it comes to the red carpet, Billy Porter reigns supreme — be it the Met Gala or the Tonys, the Pose star knows how to show off inventive looks to the world. Now, he's pulling back the curtain (literally) on one of his most famous looks.

During his appearance on last night's (April 28) episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonFallon complimented Porter's fashion sense, specifically pointing to his motorized fringe hat he wore on the red carpet to the 2020 Grammys, which could open and closed the veil covering his face.

Porter said that it was actually his stylist who held the remote to the hat, and closed the curtain of crystals over his face when given a specific signal.

"We had a sign; when I stood in second position and clasped my purse between my legs, he was to press the button," Porter said.

Porter went on to explain that he was inspired to create the outfit by none other than Billie Eilish, who wore a beekeeper-esque crystal veil over her face on the red carpet of the 2019 American Music Awards. "It was so cute, and I said 'Oh that's really cute — but I'm never wearing something that covers up my face, I've waited too long for this moment,'" he said. "Folks need to see my face."

Porter also spoke about his new cover of "For What It's Worth," his support of the Actor's Fund, and his new routine under quarantine.
