Bad Bunny and Sech perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Feb. 27, 2020.

There was a lot to love about Bad Bunny's energetic performance of "Ignorantes" with Sech on Thursday (Feb. 27) night's episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. But one thing that some may not have noticed was the statement the rapper made with the shirt he chose to wear.

During his performance, Bunny dressed in a long skirt and a large pink jacket, which he stripped away to reveal a white shirt that read "Mataron a Alexa, no a un hombre con falda," which translates to "They killed Alexa, not a man in a skirt."

The shirt appeared to reference Alexa Negrón Luciano, a homeless transgender woman who was recently murdered in Puerto Rico. Luciano was relatively well-known on social media in Puerto Rico, where she was regularly mocked for her appearance while she walked the streets.

On Sunday (Feb. 23), Luciano was killed in San Juan as part of a horrific homophobic attack. According to The New York Times, Luciano's attackers allegedly posted a video where the woman was framed in the headlights of a car, while her attackers shot her while laughing. Police in San Juan, who questioned Luciano hours before her death about complaints that she had spied on customers in a women's restroom at a local McDonald's, have yet to categorize her death as a hate crime.
