Billboard Earns GLAAD Media Award Nomination For 'Outstanding Magazine Overall Coverage'


GLAAD announced its list of nominnees for the 31st annual GLAAD Media Awards on Wednesday (Jan. 8) morning. Among the nominees, Billboard scored a nomination for outstanding magazine overall coverage, alongside The Advocate, Entertainment Weekly, Out and Variety. This is Billboard's third consecutive nomination for the award, after winning the award in 2018. 

In 2019, Billboard hosted its first annual Pride Summit in August, where stars, industry professionals and music fans came together to celebrate the continued progress toward acceptance in the music industry.

The magazine also released its second annual Pride issue, with cover stars Adam Lambert, Big Freedia, Hayley Kiyoko, iLoveMakonnen and Tegan Quin sitting down for the first Pride roundtable discussion about discrimination, coming out, activism, sexual and gender fluidity and more. 

Other nominees at the annual awards include multiple queer artists like Lambert, Lil Nas X, King Princess, Brittany Howard, Kim Petras, Tegan and Sara, Young M.A, Kevin Abstract, Mika and Melissa Etheridge in the outstanding music category. Taylor Swift will be honored with the organization's Vanguard Award for allyship, which was given to Beyonc√© and Jay-Z in 2019, while Janet Mock will take home the Stephen F. Kolzak award for her continued work in promoting acceptance. 

The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will takein New York at the Hilton Midtown on Thursday, March 19, 2020 and in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Thursday, April 16, 2020. Click here to see the full list of nominees.
