You know that problem you face when the person you're with says they "don't want to put a label on this"? Yeah, Hayley Kiyoko is officially over that.
On Friday (Nov. 15), Lesbian Jesus dropped her latest single "L.O.V.E. Me," a funky piece of pop about taking things to the next level in her relationship. The track comes as a part of Kiyoko's upcoming project I'm Too Sensitive For This Shit, which she plans to release this January.
In the new song, Kiyoko explains to her lover that she wants to know how she really feels, and asks her to say those three magic words, but only if she really means them. "So girl don't tell me you love me if you don't really want me/ I'm working through my issues, yeah, I'm gonna kiss you," she sings.
Kiyoko said in a statement that the song has been something she's wanted to write "for years," and that it takes her to a more personal place than she's used to going. "I'm very protective of my personal life ,but admittedly I’m a big romantic at heart," she said. "'L.O.V.E. Me' captures what it feels like to fall head over heels and want to shout from the rooftops about it. It’s showcasing the classic struggle we sometimes face when someone tells you they love you in private, but is too scared to express that love publicly. I hope this song brings some relatability to anyone who is craving that declaration of love."
Along with slowly releasing the singles off of her upcoming project, Kiyoko is also gearing up for her upcoming U.S. headlining tour. Kicking off in January 2020, the new tour will see Kiyoko taking to stages all around the states. For tickets, click here.
