Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter Announce Inaugural Pride Summit
Mark your calendars: The Pride Summit will launch Aug. 8 in Los Angeles.
Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter will host their inaugural joint Pride Summit in Los Angeles this fall, celebrating the influence of the LGBTQ+ community on music, media and entertainment.
The one-day event, set for Thursday, Aug. 8 at the 1 Hotel West Hollywood, will launch in conjunction with Billboard's annual Pride Issue, which hits newsstands the same date. As such, the event will play host to conversations, panels and experiences involving the cover star, top LGBTQ+ artists and a slate of industry executives.
The summit, which is programmed by incoming Billboard vice president of pride Alexis Fish, will also award two newly-established Billboard Pride Scholarships, covering the full cost of its Music Industry Essentials course at New York University.
“Our company has a year-round dedication to diversity, inclusion and representation, and we’re proud to establish the summit during this year’s historic summer of pride to honor the LGBTQ+ community in real life,” said Billboard-The Hollywood Reporter Media Group president Deanna Brown. “This event, our new hire of Alexis Fish and our comprehensive editorial and data products underscore our commitment and expertise in super-serving the LGBTQ+ community in a multitude of ways."
Panels will focus on bringing LGBTQ+ voices into songwriting, emerging queer artists, eradicating homophobia, finding best practices for fostering safe workplaces for queer and gender non-comforming communities and more. Also on deck: An installation of renowned artist Michael Kalish's "The Art of Finding Love," brand activations and a special performance by a notable queer artist.
The summit represents the culmination of Billboard’s “Summer of Pride,” featuring special editorial coverage of LGBTQ+ artists and allies, playlists curated by artists, executives and influencers and other pride-focused initiatives.
Online registration for the summit is now open here, with specific participants to be announced in the coming weeks. The Pride Summit joins a growing collection of live events at the media group, including Billboard Latin Week, its Hip-Hop and R&B Summit and The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment and Empowerment in Entertainment.
