UPDATE: After this story was published, deadmau5 returned to Reddit to apologize for using a homophobic slur on Twitch. “I needed a little cool down there for a few and seriously reflect on all this,” he wrote. “I know what I said was wrong, and my hastily composed non-apology was an insult to injury. I realize that trying to somewhat dismiss it as 'gamer culture' was even worse. I don't know why I did that. But I do know it was stupid and insensitive and I feel even more ashamed. This was my worst moment.” He later added, "Apologies once again to everyone I've disappointed. I would love nothing more than to finally be at peace with myself and be the best human being I can be, trust me. Being 'mr. I don't give a fuck' is not someone I ever aspired to be." Deadmau5 is getting squashed for an ill-advised social media rant that’s been labeled as “homophobic” and saw him tossed from Twitch.
The Canadian EDM producer, real name Joel Zimmermann, reportedly threw a tantrum after his character died in the online game PlayerUnknown’s Battleground. Mau5 took his grievances out on Twitch, initially with a post where he referred to his opponent as a “f*cking c*ck-sucking stream sniper f*g,” Queerty reports. Mau5's outburst was enough to get him suspended by the streaming platform for apparently violating its anti-hate speech policies.
