Troye Sivan Shares Stunning 'Revelation' from 'Boy Erased' Soundtrack: Listen

Troye Sivan’s phenomenal 2018 — between ’90s-pop throwbacks and his critically-acclaimed album Bloom — continues as the release date for Boy Erased approaches. The "My My My!" crooner finally unloaded the full-length version of “Revelation” on Thursday (Oct. 18), a divine, haunting ballad and his contribution to the Boy Erased soundtrack.

Filled with reverb-heavy keys, creaky strings and cinematic, post-rock flourishes, Sivan sounds absolutely stunning on "Revelation" as he sings about young, queer love as a form of freedom and revolution. Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi and longtime songwriting partner Leland also feature on the track.

“You're a revolution/ I will liberate you now/ As the walls come down,” Sivan sighs, longingly.

Starring Lucas Hedges, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, and Sivan himself in his first acting role, Boy Erased chronicles one teenage boy’s journey through gay conversion therapy -- and the emotional toll it takes on him. It's out in theaters on Nov. 2.

After a screening of the film last week, Sivan explained how "Revelation" -- and Bloom track "The Good Side" -- came to soundtrack Boy Erased. “I was ready to sell my soul," he joked. "I said, 'You can have any song that I've ever written, I'll write new ones, I'll do anything.'"

It's sure to be in the conversation for the Best Original Song Oscar this year, and has already been nominated for an award: Best Original Song at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
