Kim Petras is giving us spooky realness with her newest mixtape.

The emerging pop queen surprised fans with the release of Turn Off the Light, Vol. 1 yesterday (Sept. 30), just in time to play all through the spookiest month of the year. An eight-track mixtape of dark-disco boogies inspired by her love of horror movies, Petras drips some blood and adds some moody, night-time synths onto her usual brand of pop perfection.

The singer hinted at a goth-y October with a series of terrifying, baby-doll horror glamour shots uploaded on Instagram over the past couple of weeks, complete with glassy, bloodshot eyes and blood streaming down her mouth.

She’s having fun with it, dropping goth-pop jams and instrumental breaks with titles like “TRANSylvania” and “Boo! Bitch!” But the gem here is “Turn Off the Light,” a scary come-on with a spoken-word interlude from the patron saint of campy horror movies herself, Elvira.

Petras is continuing her North American tour in support of Troye Sivan's Bloom tour.
