Cher, "SOS"

With only ten days before the release of her ABBA covers album Dancing Queen, Cher has unveiled the music video for her "SOS" cover today (Sept. 18).

Teeming with inspiration from ABBA’s most memorable music videos — and filled with a diverse, woman-only cast that includes the likes of Transparent actress Trace Lysette, Betty Who, comedian Sabrina Jalees and Rumer Willis — Cher's visual homage to the ABBA staple is a testament to the unbreakable solidarity of womanhood. The pop icon is conspicuously absent from the video, but the girl gang that she assembled is every bit as glamorous as Cher herself would be.

The visual is directed by Jake Wilson, who struck Internet gold this year with his clever, gender-subverting takes on Dua Lipa's “New Rules” and Hayley Kiyoko's "Curious," and, more recently, the pint-sized version of Troye Sivan's “Dance to This."

Dancing Queen comes out Sept. 28.
