Janelle Monae Unveils YouTube-Produced Mini-Doc 'A Revolution of Love'
The latest entry in YouTube’s Artist Spotlight comes from multi-hyphenate artist Janelle Monaé, who released the critically acclaimed Dirty Computer album earlier this year. Titled A Revolution of Love, Monae’s mini-documentary follows features from the likes of J Balvin and Camila Cabello.
A Revolution of Love is directed by Emma Westernberg, who also spearheaded the femme-loving visuals for “Pynk.” With interviews from her mother, her creative partners at Wonderland, and Tessa Thompson, the doc serves as a portrait of Monaé’s life and creative process as she fulfills her quest for finding love and connection through her music.
“Music can unite, no matter what political party you’re in, no matter what God you choose to serve,” she says in the documentary. “You can absolutely connect with somebody over a good horn line.”
