The spectacle took place at Opening Ceremony’s show, which was a collaboration with 'Drag Race' winner Sasha Velour.
Christina Aguilera shocked attendees of Opening Ceremony’s New York fashion week show with a surprise performance alongside several drag entertainers. The event, which took place at Le Poisson Rouge, was a collaboration with RuPaul’s Drag Race royalty Sasha Velour.
"I think it's been on of the most challenging things I've ever done," Velour told Billboard. With the approval of Opening Ceremony's Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the Brooklyn-based queen handpicked every element of the show, from lighting, to the script, to casting. "It is literally a dream come true. It's a testament to what hard work and a very strong point of view of how things should be will lead to eventually."
Velour kicked off the evening by explaining that over 40 LGBTQ models and performers would share the stage for the fashion show. "I hope this is what the future looks like," she exclaimed to the audience -- which included Nicki Minaj, Troye Sivan, Hayley Kiyoko and Kim Petras. "Not just on your stages or on your screens, but every day in your life, being uplifted just like this -- belonging just like everyone else and looking fucking fabulous."
