Stand-up comics Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher announced Wednesday (August 8) that they “are separating for a time.”

Butcher and Esposito both took to Twitter and Instagram to break the news to their followers. The details surrounding the couple’s split are sparse, with both comics noting they will “be pretty private in public” about their relationship going forward.

The separation appears to be on amicable terms. “We care very much about each other & that’s why we’re doing this,” their joint announcements state. However, it is uncertain how the pair’s breakup will affect their ongoing creative collaborations, including the stand-up show/podcast Put Your Hands Together and their loosely autobiographical TV show Take My Wife.

Esposito released Rape Jokes, her latest stand-up special, in June.
