For Atlanta-based celebrity hairstylist Alonzo Arnold, his art is less about molding strands and more about making a statement. Known for his clientele, which includes Solange Knowles, Cardi B, Remy Ma, Kehlani, Karrueche, Keke Palmer, and K. Michelle -- Arnold is committed to keeping them looking larger than life.

“If it ain’t big, it’s boring,” the hairstylist tells Billboard when asked why his rapidly growing Instagram following of over 580,000 dubbed him the “Beyoncé of Bundles."

“Last year I broke out 50- and 60-inch bundles of hair for some of the custom wigs I created -- and I guess they automatically associate bold, beautiful, billowing hair with Beyoncé.”

As the nickname continued to stick, the hairstylist turned icon, began dressing in Beyoncé inspired looks -- and the resemblance was mind-blowing. “There’s really only one Queen Bey, but who doesn’t want to be compared to her -- I’ll take it,” he exclaims.

Arnold isn’t just about taking compliments, he’s also about taking chances. When asked about his “rags to rollers” journey, the hairstylist stated, “most days I still feel like I’m dreaming.” Five years before launching a successful career in the hair industry and opening a small chain of salons, Arnold felt trapped at an unfulfilling 9-to-5 job. “There’s nothing wrong with people who work traditional jobs; I just knew there was more out there for me,” he continues. “Hair is my first love and when I went after it -- I knew I’d made the right choice.”

Love is the foundation for why Arnold chose his path. The hairstylist shared that aside from his celebrity clientele, he helps everyday women look and feel like superstars. Some of his clients suffer from medical conditions leading to major hair loss and his creations are just what the doctor ordered. “It’s not about the money to me. It’s about restoring the confidence they’ve lost -- every woman deserves that,” says Arnold. “Money can’t buy the sense of purpose I feel after seeing how happy they are. That makes every second of my job worth it.”

The celebrity hairstylist also isn't shy about admitting he has favorites among his clientele. “Porsha Williams of Real Housewives of Atlanta is the shit and the toilet paper,” Arnold shares in between fits of laughter. “She’s so hilarious and fun that I feel like I should be paying her.”

Aside from his reality TV gal pal, Arnold’s favorite clients are those who aren’t afraid to step outside the box. “I love clients who are always up for a change with their hair. Change is good across the board. As with everything in life; never be afraid to switch it up!”
