Jake Shears & Josh Homme Flaunt Their Fierce Facial Hair in New Video for 'Big Bushy Mustache': Watch
Pop singer Jake Shears has never been someone hell-bent on being taken very seriously. The former frontman of Scissor Sisters made a career with the group out of high-camp, very funny and extremely glamorous songs and music videos, especially with runaway cult hits like “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’” and “Let’s Have a Kiki.”
Now, Shears is returning in his signature farcical fashion with the brand-new video for the funk rock bop “Big Bushy Mustache.” The video shows a leather-clad Shears dancing around the streets of New Orleans, flaunting his beautifully, burly ‘stache, only to have bystanders wishing for -- and eventually growing -- thick mustaches of their own.
Eagle-eyed viewers will notice that one of the mustachioed gentlemen joining Shears in his new video is none other than Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, sporting his very own glued-on handlebar mustache.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Shears talked about being friends with Homme, and how his song “The Bruiser” off of his upcoming self-titled album was actually inspired by the rock star. “He’s like a brother to me and just inspires me to no end,” he said. “I think he’s an amazing man. And musically, I think he’s one of the best alive.”
“Big Bushy Mustache” is just the most recent release off of Shears’ long-awaited solo album, out Friday. The singer recently released an animated video for his new track “Sad Song Backwards,” which pumps lyrics full of anguish and heartache into an upbeat, country-twinged track.
