Decade of 'Drag Race': Mimi Imfurst Looks Back at 'All Stars' Season 1
As part of our Decade of Drag Race week, we caught up with one queen from each season of the Emmy-award-winning series to reminisce about the show’s journey, share some never-been-told memories and throw shade where shade is due.
Below, we spill the tea with Mimi Imfurst about the first iteration of All Stars. Read all the interviews here.
Is there something that happened behind-the-scenes or off-camera that you’re surprised didn’t make the television edit?
Well, it’s hard for me because I haven’t even seen my season of Drag Race. I’ve never seen it. It’s just one of those things like -- I was there. I know what happened. I don’t have to watch some other version of what happened.
Which one queen have you grown the closest to since your season?
Probably Michelle Visage. Honestly. Michelle is always someone I can count on to just be there for me and be an incredible friend and someone I can always rely on to be an ear and I just feel so lucky to have her as a friend.
Is there a lip-sync-for-your-life decision you would’ve changed if you were in Ru’s shoes?
I mean there are a lot of people who think that the lipsync between me and Chad [Michaels] maybe perhaps went a different way then what Ru’s decision was, but I understand her decision. I don’t have a great eye for this one because I’ve never seen All Stars. I don’t watch any TV. I watch like one or two shows and I don’t watch any reality TV at all. I’m the worst. It’s not because I don’t like RuPaul’s Drag Race. It’s not that at all. It’s not that I’m bitter and don’t want to watch the show. I just don’t watch a lot of television period. I’m just so busy and life is so crazy. I just don’t watch a lot of television. [laughs] Maybe I should.
What’s one of the most overrated runway looks from your season?
[laughs] I’ve never seen them! I was there for three episodes. I don’t know.
What’s the worst decision someone made during your season?
[laughs] Casting Mimi Imfurst.
