Watch Jasmine Masters Give a Pride Month Herstory Lesson on Sylvester

In this week’s Billboard Pride herstory lesson, Jasmine Masters is teaching viewers about singer-songwriter and iconic LGBTQ icon Sylvester.

Sylvester, who grew up in Inglewood, California, flew to San Francisco to start his career, Masters explains.

“He was so damn good, let me tell you, he needed two big girls to sing in the background for him,” she adds, referring to Martha Wash and Izora Rhodes of Two Tons O' Fun and The Weather Girls.

Masters also chats about the dance clubs chart success of Sylvester’s hit song "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)," and she treats fans to a short performance of the track.
