Chicago 'Drag Race' Star Shea Couleé on Kanye West: 'He's Canceled'

RuPaul’s DragCon is notorious for providing Drag Race fans with shocking moments. A panel hosted by meme queen Jasmine Masters was sure to offer some gags, but it was a question from a fan that left the audience shook.

During a Q&A segment at the WOW Presents Plus: Jasmine Masters’ Master Reading Class discussion, panelist Shea Couleé was asked, “As a Chicago native, I have to ask you: how do you feel about Kanye Kardashian right now?”

The season 9 finalist started by explaining that the people of Chicago have a lot of hometown pride.

“When Chicagoans make it big, we like to support them," she said. "We have stood by Kanye through a lot of things and I feel like he has finally done it. He’s canceled.”

She also disapproved the rapper’s criticism of President Barack Obama.

“The fact that he has the nerve to go on Twitter and say that Obama didn’t do anything for Chicago the whole entire time he was in office when really -- that is at a state level. That is up to our mayor; that is up to the people in Congress. And also, [Kanye] has been famous for about 15 years and what the f--- has he done [for Chicago]?”

Earlier this week, Couleé released a music video for “Crème Brûlèe,” a hip-hop track inspired by Nicki Minaj and Azealia Banks.
