Living in an age of social media overload means that artists are finding more and more inventive ways to tease their fans about new music. Vague tweets, changes to their social media profile photos and more are just a few types of popular methods.

Troye Sivan is no exception to that trend. On Monday (April 30), Sivan released a new self-titled app containing hints to upcoming new music. In a video exclusive to Sivan’s app, the singer can be seen seated on a bed with someone sleeping behind him. Sivan looks directly at the camera and says “It’s about flowers,” before a clip from a new song plays in the background. The word "BLOOM" then flashes across the screen, with the date  "MAY 2 9PM PST" appearing in smaller font below.

Sivan also took to his Twitter account to continue teasing his fans, blacking out his Twitter profile photo and banner image and writing “it’s about flowers” in a tweet. The video accompanying his tweet announcing his app is just as cryptic, showing a phone screen opening the app, starting the video within the app, and then cutting to black.

Along with the video, Sivan’s new app features cryptic photos of fluorescent, doll-like figures, along with access to Troye’s previous albums, EPs and singles, upcoming tour dates and a merch store. A message inside of the app reads “April 30, 2018. Thanks for tuning in! Lots & lots to come. Love you, T.”

The App Store description offers up more information about the app’s features. “Join the official Troye Sivan app to get access to exclusive content directly from Troye,” it reads. “This is a unique digital hub for Troye and his community.” The listed features of the app include exclusive behind the scenes videos, photoshoots, artwork & lyric reveals, early access to tickets and more.

Sivan said in a tweet at the beginning of the month that his new album was not far off. “Working hard to make sure everything that comes out over the next while is the best I can make it,” he wrote. “Promise there’s not too long to wait!! Stay tuned.”
