Last night, the 29th annual GLAAD Media Awards at the Beverly Hilton was a star-studded affair. Celebs like Halle Berry, Ryan Murphy, Jim Parsons and Wanda Sykes rubbed elbows, but there was one star that stole the show: Britney Spears.
The pop icon was honored with the Vanguard Award, presented to media professionals who have made a significant difference in promoting equality and acceptance of LGBTQ people. Before Spears took the stage herself, Ricky Martin -- who presented the award the singer -- praised her efforts for the community.
“She could be one of those stars with a huge LGBTQ following who does nothing and says nothing,” Ricky Martin said. "Instead, she uses her platform to remind audiences around the globe that intolerance is unacceptable."
