Calum Scott Enlists Leona Lewis for a Duet Version of 'You Are the Reason'
English crooner Calum Scott gained international attention for his somber rendition of Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own” in 2016. His version even made an appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 93, besting Robyn's original, which astonishingly missed the chart completely.
Flash-forward to the present, and Scott is maintaining momentum with his piano-driven ballad “You Are the Reason.” Now, the singer has enlisted British powerhouse Leona Lewis for a duet version of the track.
“Working with Leona was a dream come true,” Scott said in a statement. “As a fan, I first remember watching her on TV [she was the winner of season 3 of the U.K.’s The X Factor] before going on to grace the globe with her incredibly beautiful voice. Now having the honour of working with her on one of my own songs is completely surreal and the passion and raw emotion she brings to our duet makes it even more special to me.”
Lewis echoed the sentiment: “Calum’s performance on [the track is] stunning and I loved being able to join him to make this duet version.”
The duo will team up for a music video to accompany the track.
Scott will follow up the clip with his debut album, Only Human, out March 9. In addition to 11 original tracks, the album also includes a haunting acoustic version of Bob Dylan’s “Not Dark Yet.”
