One of the RuPaul’s Drag Race favorites is leaving her competition show days behind her and is soon taking the Broadway stage.

Peppermint, the runner-up on the ninth season of the hit reality show, is starring in Head Over Heels, which features music by The Go-Gos and is loosely based on Philip Sidney’s 16th-century “The Countess of Pembroke’s Arcadia.”

The singer-actress took to Twitter Tuesday (Jan. 30) to share the news.

While she isn't the first openly-transgender person to hit Broadway--in 2007, transgender performer Justin Vivian Bond appeared in Kiki & Herb: Alive on Broadway--Peppermint's role will be the first time a trans performer creates a new role in a Broadway musical.

The show is co-produced by Gwyneth Paltrow and stars performers Andrew Durand, Tom Alan Robbin and Rachel York. The show begins with a limited engagement at San Francisco’s Curran Theatre in April before opening at New York’s Hudson Theatre on July 26.
