For Gay Pride Month, Billboard asked numerous pop culture luminaries to write 'love letters' to the LGBTQ community. Below, hit singer-songwriter Bonnie McKee -- who's written with Katy Perry, Cher, Britney Spears, Adam Lambert and many more -- shares hers. Read more Pride Month love letters here.

I'm so excited to be a part of this 'Love Letters to the LGBTQI Community' project!

One of my best childhood friends came out to me in sixth grade and I felt so special that he was comfortable telling me before anyone else. I thought he was incredibly brave and I admired him for really knowing who he was at such a young age. His openness inspired me to accept my own sexual identity -- and it wasn't so scary to say out loud that I myself am bisexual.

My LGBTQI fans are the most fearless, fierce, and loyal bunch. The love that I've felt from them at Pride shows, online, and even just walking down the street is unmatched. Their enthusiasm and heartfelt messages and support of me through thick and thin has honestly kept me going at my lowest points. I've performed at Pride festivals all over America, and I can easily say they are the most fun, free, joyful crowds I've ever had the privilege of playing for.

The first time I saw a queen perform as me in drag, I felt like I had really made it. Now, every time I release something new I can only hope that it will be donned a 'bop' by the true pop connoisseurs, my fellow LGBTQI.
