Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Joe Alwyn has commented on the musician's recent political outspokenness.

“What do you make of Taylor Swift and all of her tweets and everything that’ve been going out in terms of her political stance?” a reporter asked Alwyn during the 2018 BFI London Film Festival on Thursday (Oct. 18). “We haven’t really seen that before.”

“I think it’s great. I think it’s important,” Alwin replied.

The 27-year-old was at the festival to premiere his upcoming historical drama, The Favourite, alongside co-stars Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone.

Taylor Swift recently took to Instagram to publicly support Tennessee candidates Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives in the upcoming midterm elections via Instagram Oct. 7. She’s continued to be politically vocal by reminding fans to vote during her American Music Awards acceptance speech Oct. 9, and sharing info on early voting via social media Wednesday (Oct. 17).
