On Friday (Sept. 22), John McCain broke from rank within the Republican Party and declared he would vote "no" on Graham-Cassidy, which put the brakes on the Republican agenda to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
In a statement shared on Twitter, the oft-called maverick said, "I cannot in good conscience vote for the Graham-Cassidy proposal. I believe we could do better working together. ... The bill's authors are my dear friends, and I think the world of them. I know they are acting consistently with their beliefs and sense of what is best for the country. So am I."
For the most part, the news was received with open arms from celebrities, who voiced their thankfulness for McCain on Twitter.
