MTV Taps Vic Mensa, Ty Dolla $ign and 5H's Camila Cabello for 'Total Registration Live'

MTV is bringing back its beloved TRL franchise on Tuesday night (Sept. 27) for a one-hour election-year special entitled Total Registration Live in honor of National Voter Registration Day. The show will feature appearances by Ty Dolla $ign, Vic Mensa, Fifth Harmony's Camila Cabello and director Joss Whedon, as well as actress Natalia Dyer, singer/actor Mack Wilds and Kendall Jenner.

Ty Dolla $ign Unleashes New Project 'Campaign'

Ty is slated to perform a trio of songs from his Campaign mixtape: "No Justice," "Campaign" and "Zaddy." The show -- aimed at getting Millennial voters to register to vote in November's presidential election -- will air at 6 p.m. E.T. live on MTV, MTV.com, the MTV app and the network's Facebook and YouTube pages. Among the issues slated to be tackled during the special are: sexual assault, national security, gender inequality, student debt, immigration reform, racial inequality and Islamophobia. The event will take place less than 24 hours after the first presidential debate between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump.

According to a release announcing the show, the special will feature profiles of the issues at stake in the election through the eyes of three Millennial voters taking action in their communities, including "24-year old rape survivor and legislative advocate Amanda Nguyen, Yale freshman and undocumented immigrant Larissa Martinez and 22-year old founder of the Georgia Muslim Voter Project Aisha Yaqoob."
