MTV VJ David Holmes' Favorite Tracks to Party Alone To

Welcome back to Takeover Tuesday, where each week Billboard taps charting artists and tastemakers to compile their very own playlist exclusive to Billboard's Spotify account. We give the artists free reign to base the list on whatever subject they want and add whatever tracks they choose. The only rule? Make it as creative and unique to them as possible.

Former MTV VJ Dave Holmes recently released his memoir, Party of One: A Memoir in 21 Songs, where, as he tells Billboard, “I talk about some of my favorite music and how it helped ease the discomfort of growing up feeling like an oddball.” Despite his own success, in this week’s Takeover Tuesday, the writer and comedian calls out all the underdogs, great musicians and tracks he believes “just never got the attention they deserved.” Why? As Holmes explains, “when I share my enthusiasm about a fresh or little-known artist… it’s a gift I can give someone I care about, and it doesn’t cost me a thing.”

Maybe by listening to this playlist, you’ll find one of those artists worth dancing to, on your own - check it out below.
