Ty Dolla $ign Stays Mum on Kylie Jenner Kiss
If rapper Ty Dolla $ign and Kylie Jenner have a thing going on, he’s being awfully coy about it. On May 13, the “Blasé” rapper greeted a long line of fans at the HUF clothing flagship store in Los Angeles where his collaboration with the brand on a line of T-shirts, socks and bandanas was unveiled. As he signed posters, Overheard asked him about media reports that he was spotted kissing Jenner’s neck at a party thrown by Nylon magazine and fashion label BCBG the previous evening and may be quietly dating her. A smirk crossed his face before he insisted, “That’s crazy. I don’t even know what you’re talking about.” Then, turning to a member of his entourage, he asked, “Did you see me kiss Kylie last night?” The dutiful reply: “I didn’t see.”

Ty, who recently returned from a European tour and will perform on the Billboard Music Awards on May 22, said that he is in the midst of working on a new music, which he modestly described as "the greatest project to come up in 2016."

Ty reveals that he's been getting "inspiration from other dope music, from situations that happened, and conversations that I have with people -- everything -- it just comes out of the sky.”  Asked why the subject of female genitalia crops up so frequently in his songs ("Booty Poppin'/Forbidden Fruit," "Or Nah," and "Lord Knows," to name a few), Ty laughed and replied: “Like I said it comes out of the sky. Yes, it's just raining p**sy."

Ice Cube, Janelle Monae, Tyler, The Creator & More Join Lineup for Afropunk Festival 2016

Monáe, Mayte Salute Prince
Prince was still on the mind of Janelle Monáe at the AltaMed Power Up Gala in Beverly Hills on May 12. After receiving the Maverick Woman Award at the event, Monáe dedicated the honor to her late mentor for his efforts “to empower women” and later performed his “Let’s Go Crazy” for a crowd that included Jermaine Jackson and Mayte Garcia, Prince’s ex-wife. (First Lady Michelle Obama also accepted an award via video). Garcia told Overheard she wasn’t ready to talk about Prince, but was thrilled to watch “a room full of powerful women” dancing to his music. She did say that she is talking to the producers of VH1’s Hollywood Exes, in which she was a cast member, about a new project.

Chillin' and Grillin' With Pharrell Williams
Pharrell Williams didn't just unveil his latest Adidas line of shoes and embroidered clothing at The Lot in Los Angeles on May 14 party. The "Happy" singer was sporting jeans embroidered with daisies, a hat embroidered with the word "Plant" and a shiny new grill on his upper teeth as he circulated among a hip-hop star-heavy crowd at the Adidas Originals Pink Beach collection soiree at the venue, which used to be the old Warner Hollywood Studios lot. Pharrell, who attended the party with his mother, Carolyn Williams, spent the initial part of the evening parked on a white sofa where he talked to DJ Samantha Ronson, but later he could be seen hanging with rappers Tyler the Creator, Big Sean and A$AP Rocky, as well as DJ Khaled
