Mike Huckaby, an influential DJ in the Detroit techno and house music scene, died Friday (April 24) after a lengthy hospitalization stemming from a stroke. He was 54.
Huckaby suffered a mild stroke in early March, according to his brother, Craig Huckaby, the Detroit Free Press reports. The DJ had been appeared to be improving, but then developed a cough, sweats, and eventually had to be put on a ventilator, per his brother. He tested positive for COVID-19 before his death.
The DJ's booking agency, CONNECT Bookings, shared a heartfelt post on Facebook following the his death on Friday.
