Jon English, Australian Singer & Actor, Dies at 66

Australian entertainer Jon English died on Wednesday (March 9), following complications from surgery. 

The singer and actor was surrounded by his family when he passed away, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation

English was scheduled to tour Australia in May. 

He was well known for his work in music, television and on the stage, including his roles as Judas Iscariot in Jesus Christ Superstar in the 1970s and later as the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance.

Last month, English was hospitalized due to what was described as "unexpected ill health," postponing shows. His sudden death has surprised many.
