The new Danny Boyle-directed film asks the question: What if The Beatles had never existed?

Imagine a world without The Beatles. That’s the premise of the new movie Yesterday, which dropped its first trailer on Tuesday (Feb. 12).

Directed by Danny Boyle, the upcoming musical comedy tells the story of Jack, a struggling musician who wakes up after a worldwide power outage to an alternate universe where The Beatles never existed. Seizing the bizarre opportunity to pass The Fab Four’s songs off as his own, Jack skyrockets to success, quickly being labeled the greatest singer/songwriter of all time as a whole new wave of Beatlemania takes over the world.

The film stars newcomer Himesh Patel in the lead role alongside Lily James, Kate McKinnon and Ed Sheeran, and will feature classic Beatles hits like “Let It Be,” “Hey Jude,” "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and, of course, “Yesterday.”
