In preparation for the world premiere of A Star Is Born on Oct.5 -- Bradley CooperLady Gaga and songwriter Lukas Nelson got together to discuss Cooper's transformation into a musician in a Buzz Feed News video released on Friday (Sept. 21).

Dissecting their creative process and recalling studio meet-ups at two in the morning, the cast looked back on the months of hard work on the film, sharing how they collaborated to craft the sounds of Jackson Maine -- the lead character played by Cooper.

“Just watching you become a musician has been a pleasure,” Gaga recalled. "I remember thinking you were always a musician," Lukas Nelson, son of country legend Willie Nelson, shared of Cooper's dedication to getting his character just right. "I thought to myself, all I have to do is tell you to practice," he added.

The video features exclusive takes from the anticipated movie, as well as behind-the-scenes shots of the cast practicing and recording in the studio. "I worked with Tim Monich, who’s an incredible vocal coach, and we spent months and months working on that voice," Cooper said about his journey to transform into rough and ragged singer on the downslide Maine.

On top of taking the movie's leading role, Cooper is also the film's director. “I had the sound in my head of what I wanted Jackson's guitar to sound like and it was heavily influenced by Neil Young.” Cooper daid, explaining how Lukas Nelson -- a crucial piece in the creation of Jackson's personality and music -- entered the project.

"Neil Young casted my band Promise of the Real three years ago to be his backing band." Nelson shared. Cooper, who encountered Nelson and Young performing together at a festival, said he was immediately mesmerized by Nelson's abilities. "It was the first time in my life that my eyes have gone from Neil Young playing guitar to somebody else on stage."

Instantly clicking, Cooper invited Nelson to be a musical consultant for the movie, but the songwriter ended up playing an even bigger role. "There's no Jackson Maine without Lukas Nelson," Cooper said.
