Dua Lipa reminds her ex she's doing really well on "Don't Start Now," her new post-breakup banger, which notched a career-best debut at No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week (dated Nov. 16). The song marks her third top 40 entry, following "New Rules" (No. 6) from February 2018 and "One Kiss" with Calvin Harris (No. 26) from July 2018.
She has no time for second chances on the lead single of her upcoming sophomore studio album. In a press release, Lipa said, "I chose to put this song out first so I could close one chapter of my life and start another. Into a new era with a new sound! It’s about moving on and not allowing anyone to get in the way of that. It also felt like a natural first song choice as I made it with the brilliant same crew I made ‘New Rules’ with.”
In the "Don't Start Now" accompanying visual, Lipa holds onto the camera and looks at it grimacingly, making viewers feel like they're her ex whom she's kicking out of the club so she can truly enjoy herself with her girls. "If you don't wanna see me," she electronically croons in the intro before doing the deed.
