5 Great Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Jokes Over the Years
On Tues. (Sept. 20), Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt confirmed they were getting divorced, ending their 12-year relationship. Since the two started dating, Jolie and Pitt attracted constant media attention, and as their celebrity status heightened, the pool for jokes opened up.
Here's a list of some of the best jokes about "Brangelina" over the years.
1. Ricky Gervais, The Golden Globes (2010)
When mentioning Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in anything, the topic of their children doesn't trail too far behind. Ricky Gervais lightheartedly joked about the power couple's tendency to adopt outside of the U.S. during the opening monologue of the 2010 Golden Globes. "You could be a little Asian child with no possessions and no money but you could see a picture of Angelina Jolie and you'd think 'Mummy.'"
2. Chris Martin (2014)
Imagine if Angelina Jolie hired someone to kidnap you and forced you to write her a song. Well apparently that's what Coldplay frontman Chris Martin explained happened in an interview with Vulture. "When I woke up, I was in an office, and Brad Pitt was doing push-ups as Angelina Jolie was just sitting there with her crown on. There was also a guy holding a knife to my throat, and she said, 'Write me a song, or else.'"
3. E! News, 2014
2014 is the year Brangelina stans will never forget. It marked the official union of the pair after refusing to get married until laws made it possible for everyone to legally marry. The entertainment company posted a photo to their Twitter of who they would have picked to be Brad Pitt's groomsmen.
4. The Colbert Report (2013)
Angelia Jolie made headlines back in 2007 after the actress commented on Madonna adopting a child from Malawi. Of course, Colbert had to address the situation in true Colbert tradition. "Miss Jolie, who cares what the laws in Malawi...allow-y?"
5. Saturday Night Live (2009)
Saturday Night Live also did a bit on the Angelina Jolie vs. Madonna adoption feud, with Abby Elliott portraying the former and Kristen Wiig portraying the latter. "My boyfriend was born and old man and he's turning into a baby!" 'Jolie' whined about Pitt, making a Curious Case of Benjamin Button reference.
