Tyler Mitchell made history when he photographed Beyonce for the September 2018 issue of Vogue. Not only was Mitchell one of the youngest people to ever shoot for the magazine, he was also the first Black photographer to shoot an American Vogue cover.
The iconic image of Beyonce wearing a sequined dress and elaborate Philip Treacy headpiece is now part of the Smithsonian’s permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery, while copies of the issue are going for as much as $35 on eBay. As for Mitchell, he's launching a new project that will give Beyonce fans and aspiring photographers alike an intimate look into his work, inspirations and career highlights.
