While nothing beats a real life DJ set at a concert or music festival, Steve Aoki has learned the art of digital raving.

That's why his upcoming performance at SHEIN Together-Fest on Sunday (May 2) will have no shortage of the Aoki's wild and fun antics. "It’s kind of a mixture of a DJ set, and since I have a full stage to run around, I make sure they got me my cake," he reveals to Billboard at rehearsals ahead of the event. "I made sure there’s different camera angles and I can really feel like I’m on a stage and looking at different points of reference. You want a Steve Aoki show, you gotta have a cake!"

Nothing beats an "IRL show" for the "Send It" star, though. "That’s why I toured 250 shows a year for 15 years straight, because I love my fans and I grow such a bond with all my fans on the road from all the shows," he explains. "You can’t compare that. This is the next best possible way to be connected and interact with them. Over COVID, I got more of an understanding of how to connect virtually better and better, but I can’t wait to get back on the road."

SHEIN's virtual music festival is also supporting its new Light-a-Wish campaign, where SHEIN called upon its community to elect three causes that meant most to them. As a result, the company is pledging to donate $100,000 to NAACPTogether We Rise and Ecologi.

"We have to always think about how we can give back to our communities and give back to people that need it in general in life. I think it’s one of the more important things to be as a human," Aoki said of the cause. "How can you help serve people? At the end of the day, we’re all in service to each other. When people go above and beyond and help others in need, it’s got a contagious effect."

Nick Jonas, Maren MorrisTinashe and Lunay are also set to perform at SHEIN Together-Fest, hosted by Erin Lim Rhodes. Catch the event on Sunday (May 2) starting at 5 p.m. ET on SHEIN's app, which you can download here. Shop SHEIN here.
