Garner died just three years after her father.

Erica Garner, daughter of Eric Garner -- whose death while in New York police custody sparked outrage and a subsequent movement for national police reform -- became a warrior for justice after her father’s death in 2014.

The 27-year-old died in December as a result of complications from asthma, which turned into a coma-inducing heart attack. Her Harlem funeral, held on Monday, drew hundreds of mourners, Black Lives Matter supporters, city officials and even rapper Common, who took a cross-country flight just to be in attendance.

Rev. Al Sharpton delivered the eulogy, noting prior to the service that Erica made an impact by “turning her pain into power.” Senator Bernie Sanders, who Garner had publicly endorsed and campaigned for during the 2016 presidential race, sent in a letter to be read aloud: “Getting to know Erica was one of the great honors of my campaign. Erica never asked to be an activist, but responded to her own personal tragedy by becoming a fierce fighter for criminal justice reform and an end to police brutality.”

Michael Brown Sr., father of Michael Brown -- a teenager shot and killed by police in 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri -- also attended.
