Paris Jackson Volunteers in Puerto Rico to Help Hurricane Victims
After landfall of deadly category 5 storm Hurricane Maria in September, the island of Puerto Rico is still in dire condition, with many families left to cope with the after-effects with limited or no access to power, clean running water, food and cellular service.
Paris Jackson, who is deeply involved advocacy and activism, headed to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico — a town getting less attention and resources due to downed bridges and other road infrastructure issues that originally connected it to San Juan — on Friday (Oct. 20) to contribute hands-on to hurricane relief efforts.
The 19-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson distributed supplies and donated a backpack, personal water purifier and solar light to each student, as most (if not all) of them currently have no electricity in their homes, making it hard to complete homework.
In light of other tragic hurricanes Harvey and Irma, celebrities have shown support and banded together to help those in need, with a variety of charity concerts, events and singular acts of kindness over the past several weeks. Other stars who’ve publicly donated to Puerto Rico include Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Aniston and Chelsea Handler, who donated $1 million each, with Lopez helping raise over $35 million for the island via star-studded concert.
