MTV Partnered With Online Retailer ASOS to Design the Ultimate 1980s-Inspired Collection
Including neon prints, graffiti and all.
Sharing the same Millennial audience brought the American cable channel MTV together with the popular British online fashion retailer ASOS to create a limited-edition 1980s throwback capsule collection, which will put a vibrant twist on your summer wardrobe.
The 20-piece collection plays off popular '80s streetwear trends and boasts fluorescent neon hues and bold retro patterns, mirroring the look and style from the early days of the channel. The MTV-embellished outerwear, graphic tees, dresses, denim jackets and even bathing suits (prices range from $6-$70) will all be available on Asos.com starting Friday (June 23).
Sian Ryan, ASOS's head of design, told WWD, “As MTV began in the '80s, this was a great era to draw from, taking inspiration from this time of incredible change in both music and pop culture. It was exciting to be able to create a credible fashion range that wasn’t just your typical T-shirt collaboration,” he said. “The collection includes so many statement pieces, and the '80s decade provided so much great inspiration for graphics, print and color.”
