Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez attend the Boom Boom after party hosted by Katy Perry during The Costume Institute Benefit on May 2, 2017 in New York City.

The singer wore her heart on her sleeve (or rather, her custom Valentino fur coat, dress and bag) to attend Monday night's after party in New York with Alex Rodriguez.

After making a grand red carpet entrance wearing a Valentino couture gown, while on the arm of a new, buzzworthy boyfriend, at the biggest fashion event of the year, what's next to wear?

If you're perennial glamour girl Jennifer Lopez, the obvious answer is an outrageous fur coat and sequined dress. The singer stepped out with Alex Rodriguez (who didn't appear to change out of his Tom Ford tuxedo) for the Met Gala's Katy Perry-hosted afterparty at the Boom Boom Room in New York donning a cream-colored intarsia mink overcoat, embellished dress, studded bag and platform shoes, all by Valentino.

The look was typical J.Lo glam, but a closer look at the details shows that the singer may have been sending a sartorial message. The fur coat (from the Italian fashion house's fall 2016 collection) features soft pink hearts on its sleeves, the black sequin dress (from its current spring collection) has tiny red beaded hearts in its motif, and the red-and-pink leather Loveblade bag on her arm also has hearts studded in silver. Message received.
