Nicki Minaj attends the "Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art Of The In-Between" Costume Institute Gala at Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 1, 2017 in New York City.

For this year’s Met Gala, clothes retailer H&M dressed some of today’s hottest celebrities for their red-carpet appearances, including model Jourdan Dunn, Future, Joe Jonas and even Nicki Minaj.

In the spirit of the night’s theme -- the avant garde designs surrounding the Met’s Costume Institute exhibition “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” -- the rapper went for a dramatic red and black ensemble comprising of a minimalist bodysuit, oversized obi belt, and duchesse satin kimono top falling into a sweeping train.

The inspiring piece was custom-made by H&M for Minaj with special details such as Swarovski crystals, vinyl roses, and even an iconic image of Rei Kawakubo crafted into the look’s belt.
