Dylan Minnette, Selena Gomez and Katherine Langford arrive at the Premiere of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why at Paramount Pictures on March 30, 2017 in Los Angeles.

Selena Gomez inked a permanent bond with the cast of 13 Reasons Why in solidarity of mental health awareness — a topic the new Netflix series centers around.

Gomez, who serves as 13 Reasons Why's executive producer, and costars Alisha Boe and Tommy Dorfman got matching tattoos to honor the series' central character, Hannah Baker (played by Katherine Langford), who, before taking her own life, explains in seven audio cassettes 13 reasons why she's decided to kill herself.

The tattoo, inked on the wrists of Gomez, Boe and Dorfman, is a small, black semi-colon, popularized by the suicide prevention and mental health awareness organization Project Semicolon to be symbolic of choosing life over suicide. While Gomez showed off her tattoo on her Instagram story, Boe took to her Instagram page to show off the tattoo and pay tribute to Project Semicolon's founder, Amy Bleuel, who committed suicide last month.

“I have received so much love and support from all of you who are watching 13 Reasons Why," Bleuel wrote in Instagram. "Today —Tommy, Selena and I got tattoos of a semicolon. Project semicolon is a movement dedicated to presenting hope for those suffering from depression, thoughts of suicide, addiction, and self-injury. Those of you watching 13 Reasons Why and identify with Hannah Baker, please check out Beyond The Reasons on netflix, or check out the link in my bio. Rest In Peace Amy Bluel, who started this movement. Love you all.”

Dorfman also posted his tattoo on Instagram, detailing his own struggles with addiction and depression.

“Today was a magical day. Another day to be grateful to be alive,” he wrote. “I struggled with addiction and depression issues through high school and early college. I reached out and asked for help. At the time, I thought my life was over, I thought I’d never live past the age of 21. Today I’m grateful to be alive, in this new chapter of life in recovery, standing with my colleagues and friends, making art that helps other people.”

Today was a magical day. Another day to be grateful to be alive. Alisha, Selena, and I went together to get ; tattoos. The ; symbol stands for an end of one thought and a beginning of another. Instead of a period, authors use the semicolon to continue a sentence. For us, it means a beginning of another chapter in life, in lieu of ending your life. I struggled with addiction and depression issues through high school and early college. I reached out and asked for help. At the time, I thought my life was over, I thought I'd never live past the age of 21. Today I'm grateful to be alive, in this new chapter of life in recovery, standing with my colleagues and friends, making art that helps other people. If you're struggling, if you feel suicidal, I urge you to click the link in my bio. Ask for help. Start a new chapter with the support of others. --⛅️--☀️and RIP Amy Bleul, who started the semicolon movement.
