Makeup primers are the most underrated product sitting (or not) in your beauty bag, but a recent collaboration between two celebrity skin-care experts will have you wondering why you haven’t been using it with every single makeup application.

This week, celebrity makeup artist Monika Blunder, who counts Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jessica Alba and Amanda Seyfried as clients, and Dr. Barbara Sturm, the globe-trotting MD who treats Cher and Angela Basset (Sturm is also famous for her pricey product line, including the MC1 which incorporates a client’s blood plasma into a face cream), are launching an antiaging primer that the two beauty specialists spent nearly two years creating together.

“A makeup primer is an important step in ensuring that my client’s skin and makeup looks flawless — on the red carpet or under the lights in a photo studio,” says Blunder. “However, I found that the majority of primers on the market are formulated with silicone and other ingredients that can clog pores and cause reactions in the skin.”

After using Dr. Sturm’s skin-care products for years and then meeting Sturm herself (the two were introduced by their husbands; Blunder’s husband previously worked with Ben Stiller and Sturm’s husband is Stiller’s lawyer. He is also Johnny Depp's Brad Pitt's and Cher’s lawyer), Blunder formed a beauty bond with Sturm, and the two embarked on creating a primer that they call a “hybrid of luxurious skincare and a high-performance makeup primer.”
