Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson became an international it girl when her 2016 single “Never Forget You” with MNEK hit No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. Today, her impressive vocals, charming disposition and radiant style are all guiding her to a promising career as a rising superstar. Behind all the sartorial glitz and glamour is veteran celebrity stylist Marcus Paul

Paul and Larsson have been working together for almost a year, combining his style expertise from years of working with clients such as LeBron James, Pusha T and Desiigner with the singer’s innate fashion sense for fresh looks. When he’s not wardrobing Larsson, the Brooklyn-based creative explores his craft of interior design and collects art. Below, Billboard’s Stylist Spotlight delves into Paul’s visionary mind and his blossoming partnership with Larsson.

Describe Zara Larsson’s style in three words.

Perennial, effortless and individualistic.

What’s the most inspirational thing about working with Zara?

She is a star! As the saying goes, you are either born with wings or without. I don't think she plans on landing anytime soon.

Proudest Zara style moment of 2016?

Definitely the MTV VMAs. She was très chic wearing vintage Thierry Mugler (which is a museum piece).

What are you most excited about for Zara’s style in 2017?

I'm excited about exploring different looks and silhouettes. Additionally, working with emerging and established designers.

Who are some emerging designers you’ve got your eye on?

I really like Y Project (Homme and Femme), Wanda Nylon, Alabama Muse, Richard Malone and other emerging designers from around the world.

Favorite brands to pull for Zara?

Saint Laurent, Opening Ceremony, Zara and many other brands. She really knows how to make things look great, hence, the effortless aspect.

Most underrated accessory?

Brooches and pins.

Most overrated accessory?

Tech accessories.

Must-have piece for winter?

A beautiful Mohair fur coat. So cozy.

Favorite city for clothes shopping?

Paris, New York, London, Storm in Copenhagen.

Your mantra for 2017:

The sky is not the limit, it’s just a point of view.
