Tell us about the first time you met Vic Mensa.
The first time I met Vic was for a Paper Magazine shoot. I researched Vic’s look and music and pulled pieces I felt would work with his overall look whilst trying to bring in brands and pieces that he might not have been exposed to and would be excited about. He also brought some really great vintage pieces and we were able to integrate them within the shoot and collaborate a lot on the looks. It turned out really great.
Describe Mensa’s style in three words.
Punk, militant, experimental.
What was the best Mensa style moment of 2016?
Vic wearing Roberto Cavalli on set for GQ Style. It was so fresh – no other male artists are wearing Cavalli. He looked like a modern day Jimi Hendrix.
Do you have a guilty pleasure style-wise?
Saint Laurent clothing and shoes. Not sure I feel that guilty when I purchase but it’s definitely a pleasure.
Name your must-have piece for winter.
Really excited it’s winter because it’s my favorite season. Must have piece would be a really good fur coat. You can always find a good one within your price range, whether it’s faux or real, vintage or designer. It can really elevate your outfit. I love fur for both men and women!
