Miley Cyrus joined The Voice this season as a judge, and her eclectic wardrobe proved once again that her affinity for genre- and generation-mixing goes far beyond her music. From Axl Rose to Madonna, below are some of our favorite Miley outfits inspired by the legendary icons that influence her sound.

The "Wrecking Ball" singer goes full psychedelic with a '70s-inspired print, finished off with billowing sleeves for a disco vibe. ABBA, the legendary Swedish pop group, was famous for mixing different styles and textures, like ruffled, multi-layered satin capris and skirts.

Miley usually leans more toward the playful and feminine on The Voice, but this time the singer decided to switch things up with a masculine USA bomber jacket, complete with red, white, and blue stars around her eyes. The inspiration? It's got to be Axl Rose from the Guns N' Roses’ 1991 “Illusion” tour.

3. Madonna

Choosing black from head to toe, Miley looks playfully chic when wearing a sheer top, with two cat silhouettes as coverage. Madonna, who is also certainly not afraid to show a little (or a lot) or skin, has often shown up to events over the years with barely-there looks, such as this dominatrix inspired outfit.
