Selena Gomez is the latest pop star to get the Giuseppe Zanotti treatment: The singer kicked off her Revival tour last Friday in kicks from the Italian shoe designer, including a pair of silver mirror-embellished booties and ivory satin pumps.

Gomez and Zanotti worked together with the singer’s stylist Christina Classen to create the custom shoes for specific acts in her show; the metallic booties for her “Technology/Man and Machine” act and the feminine platforms for “6th Sense.”

And though both styles have Zanotti’s signature sky-high heels, the designer says he kept comfort in mind while creating them. “(It’s) always one of the main topics when it comes to designing performance shoes,” he says. According to the designer, there are key features that can make a heel less intimidating and more wearable: “The ankle strap and platform make the pump easy to perform in, despite the high heel,” he says of the satin shoes.

Zanotti has quickly become the unofficial shoe designer for pop stars in performance, designing for and collaborating with artists like Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna, that last of whom he recently worked with for the singer’s Anti tour, creating a pair of thigh-high, lace-up boots.
