"As Time Goes" is JinSoul's second solo appearance on World Digital Song Sales after previously entering as the featured artist on "Egoist," sung by fellow LOONA member Olivia Hye. "Egoist" peaked at No. 9 on the tally, selling 1,000 copies in its debut chart week of April 14, 2018, making "As Time Goes" JinSoul's best debut sales week to date as well.
While ballads tend to sell less in America overall, LOONA fans continue to show major support for the group's slower material. LOONA's sole No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales to date is the fan-dedicated "365" ballad that snagged the top slot on the chart dated Dec. 28, 2019.
Earlier this year, LOONA sent their high-energy single "So What" to the charts where it peaked at No. 4 and spent two weeks on the chart.
JinSoul's new track also marks the latest chart accomplishment for soundtracks to Korean dramas on the charts.
While dramas can reach an international audience easier than ever thanks to streaming services, the music attached to them is continuously gaining traction thanks to most shows' weekly single releases coinciding with new episodes. Just this year, popular Korean shows have produced chart hits including tracks from Itaewon Class (which had soundtrack contributions from BTS' V and Kim Feel), Crash Landing on You (Baek Yerin and Kim Kyunghee), Dr. Romantic (EXO's Baekhyun, and Chanyeol and Punch) and XX (Sunmi). Most of these tracks tend to be ballad or acoustic-leaning but songs like Sunmi's "Gotta Go" mark exceptions based on the theme of the drama or specific scene for which its used.
