Brick-and-mortar record stores in Japan shut down for the foreseeable future after the country declared state of emergency over the coronavirus pandemic last week, resulting in a considerable drop in the share of physical points -- single sales and look-ups -- on Billboard Japan's tallies.

On the latest Japan Hot 100 chart, dated April 6 to 12, Official HIGE DANdism's "I LOVE…" returns to No. 1, logging its fourth week at the top fueled by digital points.

The song at No. 1 for physical sales this week is Sandaime J SOUL BROTHERS from EXILE TRIBE's "Movin' on," which sold 36,167 copies in its first week. The track enters the top 10 at No. 4 on the Japan Hot 100, lacking the momentum to overtake the top three long-running hits in other metrics (No. 3 for look-ups, No. 11 for downloads, No. 31 for streaming, No. 22 for Twitter mentions, No. 61 for radio airplay, No. 89 for video views).

Two new songs by popular J-pop bands debut in the top 10 this week: RADWIMPS's "Neko-jarashi" at No. 9 and Official HIGE DANdism's "Parabola" at No. 10. The former leads downloads and comes in at No. 9 for radio and No. 40 for Twitter, while the latter follows in downloads and comes in at No. 3 for radio, No. 26 for streaming, and No. 35 for Twitter. Both songs happen to be featured in beverage commercials for different companies ahead of the summer season, and will likely stay put in the upper ranks of the list for a while.

Singer-songwriter Gen Hoshino's viral "Dancing on the Inside" collaborative project sparked furor on social media this week after PM Shinzo Abe posted his own version on his official Twitter account, consisting of a series of videos of him relaxing at home. His unexpected take on Hoshino's video resulted in a storm of tweets voicing opinions on the matter, lifting the song up to No. 1 for Twitter. The song rises to No. 13 on the Japan Hot 100 fueled by this metric, plus radio (No. 5) and video views (No. 16).

Numerous articles discussing Abe's use of "Dancing on the Inside" are still being posted online, which will probably keep the song afloat next week as well, but here's hoping that Hoshino's project will return to its initial purpose of encouraging creativity and joy during these uncertain times.

Because many businesses, including karaoke rooms, have shut down in light of the coronavirus crisis, the Billboard Japan Hot 100 will exclude karaoke data from its calculations starting this week until further notice.

While some songs relying mainly on this metric have fallen on the tally, the ones that also show strength in streaming remain mostly in place because physical points are down for the same reasons. As many CD releases are currently being pushed back, physical sales will remain sluggish, so the omission of karaoke won't greatly impact the overall ranking on the Japan Hot 100.

The Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube and GYAO! video views, Gracenote look-ups, audio streams from Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOX, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, RecMusic provided by Gfk Japan, dHits, Uta Pass and Spotify, plus karaoke data from Daiichikosho and XING (excluded until further notice).
