LONDON – Warner Records U.K., home to Dua Lipa, Liam Gallagher and Muse, is making a number of changes to its senior management team as the frontline label looks to grow its domestic and international business.

Joining Warner Records U.K as general manager is Sukhraj Johal, previously general manager at Sony-owned imprint Syco Music. She takes over from Jennifer Ivory, who is promoted to the newly-created position of senior vice president.

Both execs report to label president Phil Christie with Johal's main area of focus to be on the company's domestic pop, R&B and hip-hop roster, including Dua Lipa. Griff, JC Stewart, L Devine, Mist and Nines.

Ivory, who joined Warner Music UK in 2009, will oversee the label's stable of rock and alternative artists, including Biffy Clyro, Liam Gallagher, Muse, Royal Blood and recent BRIT Award best group winners Foals. Ivory will also be responsible for the U.K. campaigns of Warner Records' international artists.

Announcing her promotion to SVP, Christie said Ivory had played a pivotal role in the label's success over the last decade, during which she helped break some of Britain's biggest-selling artists.

"She's one of the most respected execs in the industry and a cornerstone of our label, and I look forward to continuing to work with her to propel our U.S. repertoire and drive our business forward drive in the years ahead," said Christie.

He added that Johal's "progressive outlook and wide-ranging industry experience" made her the ideal appointment to help deliver Warner Records' "agenda for change."

"Together, we'll deliver brilliant music, mount dynamic campaigns, and break the best artists," vowed Johal, who began her music industry career as a marketing manager at Island Records, before holding senior marketing roles at Polydor and PMR Records, where she worked with Jamie Woon, Jessie Ware, and Disclosure.

In 2017, Johal was named general manager of Syco Music, where her roster included Camila Cabello, Louis Tomlinson, and LSD (Labrinth, Sia and Diplo).

In line with the changes to Warner Records U.K's senior management team, the label's head of digital, Sebastian Simone, is promoted to the newly created role of director of audience with immediate effect. Meanwhile, head of marketing Alex Burford is exiting the company later this month. "He leaves on a high, having delivered a fantastic Dua Lipa campaign," said Christie.

Dua Lipa's second album, Future Nostalgia, this week entered the Billboard 200 at No. 4 to give the singer her first top 10 album in the U.S. Future Nostalgia also broke three global records on Spotify during its first week of release, including the most-streamed album in a day (or first day) by a British female artist globally and the most-streamed album in a day by a British female artist in the U.S.

She's currently on track to top the U.K. albums chart outselling Lewis Capaldi's Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent by almost two to one, says the Official Charts Company.
