King Gnu shared the new music video accompanying "Hikoutei," the band's new digital single. Released Thursday (Aug. 22), the video already has more than a million views on YouTube.

The Japanese pop-rock group's latest video features a boy dressed up as a masked and caped superhero walking determinedly up an endlessly spiraling slope. The camera captures his journey from above, steadily trailing overhead as he encounters people and situations that hint at his future.

After being worn down by what feels like an unending barrage of bleakness, the boy finds hope in a discarded electric guitar, which he picks up and learns to play. He eventually reaches the end of the slope, where King Gnu is performing, and the video ends with the boy striking a pose on the living room table like the fearless hero he is. Watch below:

Cutting-edge motion control technology developed by FIGLAB went into setting up the drone cameras so that their position, speed, height and tilt are all seamlessly remote-controlled. The innovative video was created by PERIMETRON, the young creative team behind King Gnu's other music videos, including the hit song "Hakujitsu."

OSRIN, the visual artist who directed the work, says he hopes viewers will notice and enjoy the detailed story that he and producer Shu laid out in the video: "I couldn't become the hero that I dreamed about when I was a kid, but I think I'm living a pretty good dream now, so the story is one of hope."
